Une journée qui finit bien...A good ending to this day...

Surprenant pour un dimanche soir…et je travaille ce matin, en plus…mais j’imagine que ce doit être allé acheter du matériel de peinture, même si cela m’a coûté une fortune…je ne suis pas du genre ‘survivor’, advenant une catastrophe, je manquerais de bouffe au bout d’une journée, de bière dans trois ou quatre jours; mais par contre je pourrais peindre encore des mois….il me faudrait un ‘bunker’ pour entreposer mon matériel et les toiles, esquisses et pastels qui grandissent en nombre depuis quoi…30 ans…

Bon, ce n’est pas suffisant pour chasser le blues du dimanche soir…il y a en plus que les ‘underdogs’ les Ravens de Baltimore, une équipe de foot….football américain, devrais je spécifier pour mes lecteurs hors Amérique du Nord…vont au Super Bowl, et dans notre pool, j’étais le seul qui les avais mis assez haut, du moins pour m’assurer de la 2e place et des $$$; et aussi surtout, qu’enfin je crois que le tableau de Sophie Marceau, est pour ainsi dire, terminé, je ferais encore des retouches, mais je crois que finalement, tout y est….c’est surtout cela, je crois, qui me fait oublier le blues du dimanche soir….

Yes, even if it is Sunday night, almost monday morning, and I do have to get up at 5….so why? maybe just because I went to shop for art supplies, I not the survivor type, I would go hungry after a day if there was a catastrophe, run out of beer after 3 or 4 days, but I could go painting for months and months…

But of course it is not enough, the Ravens are going to the Superbowl, and I was the only one in our football pool to put them high enough, so whatever the outcome, I will earn some $$$$, for my non north american followers, I’m talking about american football, you the other foot…but of course this is not enough too for my happy day ending, it has more to do with the fact that the Sophie Marceau painting’s is, if not finish, so close to be signed, maybe a few retouchs here and there, but I think everything is there, what isn’t there, maybe I should practice on a new painting…:)

Parfois vaut mieux ne pas peindre...Sometimes, better off not painting...

Pourquoi? pourrais épiloguer longuement sur les moments où ma tête ne semble plus là, les oublis, les maladresses, soit artistiques mais plus souvent culinaires….culinaires? voyez la photo de mes frites qui devaient accompagner les côtelettes de porc…Je n’ai malheureusement pas de photos des frites enflammées…ni de moi, me prenant pour Néron et jouant de la lyre, me contenterai de délirer un peu ici … et là….et de me dire ouf…heureusement que je n’étais pas armé de mes pinceaux ce soir…

Why? could go on and on with this, but sometimes, seems I’m a public danger, at least to me, so a private danger, especially when cooking….hum beautiful burned to ashes fries….I wish I had a photo of them while they were flamming…and me, like Neron, playing the lyra and singing. and I do sing bad, worst than cooking…fortunately I did not venture into my atelier tonight, just can’t imagine what I could have done…

aH les cheveux...not easy the hair;;;

Je n’aimais pas la façon que j’avais peint sa chevelure, pas sûr que je l’aime plus ce soir, parfois c’est pas évident de réparer ce que l’on pense qui devait l’être, mais je crois que malgré l’apparent recul, ce sera ok, mais encore du travail à faire…aussi la photo semble un peu moins lumineuse, probablement l’éclairage un peu différent de voilà quelques mois, fait quelques réarrangements mineurs dans l’atelier, mais l’éclairage est pas tout à fait comme avant, ou tout simplement que j’avais ‘forcé la note’ dans photoshop en récupérant le fichier..enfin pas si grave…ça donne une bonne idée de ce qu’il a l’air ce tableau.

Did not like the way I painted the hair, not sure tonight that it is better, kind of a step back to get it like I want, so tonight it doesn’t look like an improvment, but I think I did manage to set it right for the next time, wishful thinking maybe, will see…And also the picture doesn’t look as bright as it should be, compared to the previous versions, I did change a few things in the atelier, and I think the lighting is a bit different, I think the picture is still quite truthful to what this painting look like, and maybe I kind of overdoit the last time, when I did upload the file and process it in photoshop, not sure….

Une difficile...A tough one....

Toujours aux prises avec ce modèle qui parfois sourit, parfois semble bien songeuse, et plus triste, sans compter les fois où tout a été de travers et tout est tout croche…oui parfois un tableau donne plus que sa part de fil à retordre…mais là, je crois qu’il a pris le bon chemin…la version nouvelle et l’ancienne pour comparer, évidemment je ne peux que vous recommander de cliquer sur la photo et de voyager dans le cyberespace…(désolé je n’ai pas de musique pour donner l’effet…vous devez l’imaginer) et atteindre la page du tableau où toutes les versions, bonnes, moins bonnes, errances sont gardées…

Yes still struggling with this painting, this model sometimes is smiling, sometimes more like pondering what’s going on, and a bit worry, and sometimes everything just went off, so lot of corrections, but now I think it is finally on his way, I’m putting here the newest and the previous version to have a better idea of it, of course I cannot recommend enough to click on the picture to be taken where no man, or woman, has been before…okay sounds a bit too much like StarTrek…let just simply say it will take you to this painting page, and there you can look to all the steps, good, not so good, and erything else….






Et j’allais oublier…j’ai aussi une autre version du tableau du modèle et de ses nombreux gants….presque fini….

Et c’est ce que ce modèle, dont j’ignore le nom, s’est probablement dit, en fait c’est probablement le directeur artistique de la pub qui en a décidé ainsi; et elle ne sait toujours pas quelle paire elle portera…..quelques versions de ce tableau qui progresse assez bien…

And it is probably, what this unknowned model was telling herself, although I think it is more likely that it was the idea of this pub’s artistic director….and she’s not sure what color they should be….so a few more versions of this oil painting, it is going pretty well…

En fait, voici les autres photos prises au début, je les prends aux 15 minutes pour les premières étapes, le début est toujours rapide, c’est après que je m’attarde….:)

Pas sûr, mais je crois qu’il manque bien peu de chose, à ce portrait, à ce point tout semble avoir été comme sur des roulettes, donc je vais le laisser de côté, le temps de penser à le signer ou non, et passer au tableau suivant, en fait je l’AI déjà retravaillé…des gants et des yeux…deux indices…:), mais les photos demain ou en fin-de-semaine…

Not quite sure, but seems to me that very little, if nothing, is missing on this pastel, sometimes things just go along, everything fall in place, maybe it is time to sign it, but of course for the moment, I will let it rest and pass to another one, in fact I’ve already reworked this painting, yesterday and tonight…some clues, it is a painting of a woman…eyes and gloves, there two clues..but the photos will come later, tomorrow or over the week-end…

Presque 3 articles en 3 jours, il est tout juste passé minuit, manqué l’heure de tombée..pas grave

Un pastel de terminé, donc un nouveau...

Je ne savais trop si le pastel du port d’Hambourg était terrniné ou non…comme il plaisait à un ami, et qu’il le veut, eh bien il est terminé…..donc quelle belle occasion d’en commencer un autre, un paysage, peut-être plus tard, donc un portrait , oui bien sûr elle est jolie, mais ne porte pas de bottes, enfin elle en porte peut-être, mais la photo ne le dit pas….une image vaut mille mots qu’on dit, voilà la photo du modèle et du pastel fini….du port d’Hambourg.

Did not know if this pastel, of Hambourg port, was finished, a friend who visit my place, was fond of it, and wanted it, so it is finished…so I though that maybe I should do another pastel, no not a landscape, later…, so a portrait of a model, yes she is good looking…:), maybe she’s wearing boots, but the photo doesn’t tell the story, so maybe yes, maybe no..may as well show her picture and also the photo of this finished pastel…

Lonneke et la fin du monde...Lonneke and the end of the world...

Je comptais bien sur les Mayas et la fin du monde pour me donner une raison de laisser ce tableau interminable, non complété….semble que je devrai réviser mes plans et essayer de le finir ce tableau, et tant qu’à faire je reprends la même résolution qu’en 2012…essayer d’apprendre à dessiner des mains, et des oreilles…toujours difficiles….Quant aux pieds, je dessine assez bien les bottes, ce qui permet de contourner le problème, donc voici les dernières versions de Lonneke, en fait plutôt 3 fois qu’une…

I was hoping that the end of the world predicted by the Mayas, would give me a good excuse, to leave this unterminable painting unfinished, well seems I do have to revise my plans, and since were in a new year, maybe I shall take the same resolution of last year…learn to draw hands, and ears….as for feets….I do have a way to go around that, I think I can draw and paint boots pretty well…:) So the latest versions of Lonneke, more like the 3 Lonnekes…

2013 et/and Cindy....

Bon, il est temps de la commencer cette nouvelle année…alors une autre version du tableau de Cindy, en fait des deux….tableau commencé à l’acrylique et que je termine à l’huile, je sens venir une autre période où je me demande pourquoi je les commence à l’acrylique mes tableaux, l’huile me semble plus un médium adéquat pour moi…du moins de ce temps ci, bon alors la voici cette dernière version….

Well, time to get going with this new year, so here’s a new version of this Cindy Crawford painting, in fact of the two Cindys, this one started as an acrylic, now I finishing it, not yet of course….in oil. I guess I’m going through another crisis…debating why I do start them in acrylic, most of the time I switch to oil….which seems to me a medium more suited to me, at least these days….so there is this latest version…

Une valise, trois modèles deux tableaux...

Un peu plus de ce modèle, qui finira bien par la prendre sa valise, et s’en aller, vers la collection des toiles terminées….bien près du but en ce moment, mais tant qu’à l’avoir tant fignolé, il reste quelques retouches, mais là faut vraiment que je laisse le tableau sécher, l’inconvénient de l’huile…mais un inconvénient mineur….je redécouvre la subtilité et la douceur que l’huile procure, oui encore dans une période où je boude l’acrylique….d’ailleurs, je n’ai pu m’empêcher de continuer à l’huile un autre tableau que j’ai commencé à l’acrylique…

A bit more of this model, that is still waiting to take her suitcase and do, where? I don’t really know, maybe in the pile of finished paintings…..not much is missing, very close to the end, but of course a few little things are not to my satisfaction, so it will have to wait, the time the fresh paint dry a little bit, drying time, the good thing of oil for subtile mix and effects, but also a minor inconvenience, at a certain point, have to let it stand a while….seems I did rediscovered a fondness for oil painting, so again I’m kind of walking away from acrylics….and I could not resist finishing an acrylic painting with oil, of course it is not finished…
